Design

The VIOTEK GN27DB monitor is a 27-inch display curved design of about 1800R, which will give you a better immersive experience when it comes to gaming and doing other multimedia. And thanks to its thin bezels, you won’t get distracted as much, and you’ll be further absorbed into your multimedia moments.

Furthermore, the overall frame is made up of a matte-black color and gives the GN27DB an elegant yet simplistic look. The design has a mix of a futuristic theme and will provide you with something that you can be proud of when walking in your room or office.

The stock stand design looks solid and has a V-shaped base with an extra-base extending out in the rear of the stand, which gives the display a better foundation. And this will prevent the monitor from wobbling when accidentally making slight adjustments to the screen.

However, the stand isn’t ergonomic by design, so you won’t be able to make the required height adjustments, tilt, swivel, nor pivot the monitor into its desired place.

But if you’re not satisfied with the stock stand, then you’ll be able to replace that with a 100mmx100mm VESA mount, which will give you more flexibility and options in terms of setting up the position of your display.

You’ll also be able to mount your display onto your wall as well, and do some console gaming and watch films while eating popcorn.

Also, the I/O panels are located in the back of the display and are relatively easy to set everything up from there. The panels consist of your traditional, one DisplayPort 1.2, one HDMI 1.4, and one HDMI 2.0 port.

The OSD is user-friendly, and you’ll be able to re-configure the display with ease. You’ll be able to use different pre-sets of customizable crosshairs for gaming and calibrated pre-sets such as Movie, Game, Standard, FPS, and RTS. The pre-sets are great and will suit different genres of games and will optimize for whichever multimedia you’re going for. And you’ll also be able to reconfigure your traditional gamma, contrast, brightness, sharpness, response time, and aspect ratio.

Thanks to its HDMI ports, you’ll be able to connect your PS4, SNES, X-BOX One into the GN27DB and enjoy console gaming to a whole new level with its excellent 144Hz refresh rate.

And you can also plug in your laptop as well and work out from the GN27DB monitor as long as the laptop has a video/HDMI output.

If you’re thinking about buying one or two more GN27DB monitors, you’ll be able to connect them with your current GN27DB and have a dedicated battle station with three screens attached, side by side.

Additionally, the monitor comes with two built-in speakers; however, some variants come with no built-in speakers. But generally speaking, you’ll do better with a set of dedicated stereo systems and a pair of headphones because you’ll be able to be better absorbed into your digital environment.

Overall, the design to the GN27DB is aesthetic, and the stand itself will serve the display a proper foundation; however, you won’t be able to make any adjustments. You can always opt-in for a VESA mount down the road. With the display weighing in only 10lbs, you’ll have an easy time when transporting the monitor if you’re ever on the go.

Performance and Features

The GN27DB runs in a resolution of 2560x1440p, with a refresh rate of 144Hz and a response time of 5ms. And thanks to its screen aspect ratio of 16:9 and its resolution, you’ll have more than enough screen real estate to have multiple projects and windows open at the same time.

With a 178 degree of viewing angles, it’s like an IPS panel, but you may see the images disappear a little bit when viewing the display from certain angles.

But with excellent response time (5ms) and a 144Hz of refresh rate, you’ll be able to get a speedy performance and as well as color vibrancy, contrast, and brightness. You’ll get best of both worlds of a TN panel and an IPS panel.

However, with its 5ms response time, you may experience ghosting and trailing when viewing a high action-paced scene.

There are also more variants to choose from, with an extra four hundred dollars, you can get an IPS panel which will give you a better image and picture quality, with more color depth and vibrancy.

Also, if you do own an AMD, you’ll be able to use both the FreeSync. Once the sync feature is on, you’ll have a smoother and buttery-like gameplay, with no screen-tearing and nor ghosting. With the sync on, you’ll take your gameplay to another level.

However, if you do have an Nvidia GPU, you can also use the G-Sync feature as well, and you can also do this by going to Nvidia’s website and downloading their drivers.

Overall the color depth, vibrancy, image quality, pixel density, and superb contrast will give you an elevated experience when it’s time to game or when you’re watching your favorite films. And there are no backlight bleeding and no dead pixels when using the GN27DB display.

Pros

  • Fast refresh rate (144Hz) and excellent response time (5ms)
  • No dead pixels and no backlight bleeding
  • Great sRGB coverage
  • Awesome picture quality
  • Very affordable

Cons

  • The stand isn’t ergonomic in design. But you can always replace the stock stand with a 100mmx100mm, VESA mount
  • Less image vibrancy because it’s a VA panel

In Conclusion

The design and performance of the GN27DB are dedicated to speed and image quality at the same time. However, you may see a bit of trail when viewing fast action scenes but shouldn’t be any significant and should go unnoticeable. And hopefully, this VIOTEK GN27DB review has helped you make your investment decisions.

If you’re looking for more top gaming monitors, you can also check out some of the TN panels as well such as Acer KG271 or the Acer KG271 Review: Speedy 27-Inch, TN Panel, 75Hz Refresh Rate.

And you can also check out some of the top 144Hz monitors and the even more faster 244Hz refresh rates monitors as well.

You can choose from different variants; you’ll be able to choose between a VA, TN, or an IPS panel. If you’re going for photography and image work, then I highly suggest going for an IPS panel. But if you’re a gamer, then you’ll need to go with the VA or TN panel.

But if you’re wanting pure performance and speed and don’t mind the colors washing out, then TN panel would be ideal.

But with the GN27DB VA panel variant, you’ll get a balance of both worlds of speed, and image quality.
