If you’re seeking a well-balanced IPS gaming monitor filled with performance and quality, then the ViewSonic Elite XG270QG is it.

The XG270QG is ergonomic by design and will allow the display to be flexible, along with its anti-cable clutter system, which is outstanding.

And with some of the quickest 144Hz refresh rates in the market, you’ll get the best of both worlds of speed and quality images.

In addition, the display has a nice futuristic aesthetic look to the overall build, along with an abundance of connectivity.

Display Design

The ViewSonic Elite XG270QG display measures 27-inches, the build is quite wide. Thanks to its wide display, you’ll have more than enough screen real estate to have multiple windows and projects open simultaneously.

The display also has an excellent thin-bezel design all around, making it great for gamers and creatives alike to experience a complete immersion.

And with thin bezels, you can also attach a second XG270QG, and have dual monitors as well, for an awesome battle-station ready for you to command.

The screen has excellent matte material, which is perfect for deflecting glares and reflection. Putting the XG270QG directly next to a bright light source won’t produce any reflections.

Along with great display features such as a headphone hook to hang your headphones after your gaming sessions and a cable hook to manage your wires and manage your cables.

The connectivity is located in the back of the display, consisting of one HDMI 4, one DisplayPort 1.2, four USB 3.1, and one audio jack. And with a plethora of connections, you’ll be able to plug in many of your electronic devices into the XG270QG monitor.

You’ll be able to find the Old panel at the lower bottom of the bezel, which consists of one joystick, which is super convenient when navigating through the OSD settings, compared to using traditional physical buttons.

The back also has great RGB lighting for added aesthetics and environmental immersion effects, which is excellent for gaming.

Overall, the XG270QG is a superb gaming monitor and is well build and added RGB aesthetics. And thanks to its sturdy material and a tremendous stable, ergonomic stand, the XG270QG is well designed.

Performance and Features

The ViewSonic Elite XG270QG has a 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution, along with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 1ms response time, which is great for competitive and casual gaming.

The input lag is also low and will give you a fluid and smooth-like experience when gaming during fast-paced action scenes.

Also, the XG270QG has a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a brightness level of 400 cd/m². However, when you’re viewing dark environments, you won’t see the rich blacks in really dark environments; the blacks are a bit grayed out. But you can always fix this by calibrating the monitor.

You may experience a little backlight bleeding around the edges and upper corner screen; however, it shouldn’t be a significant issue.

Additionally, the display has a wide viewing angle, which is typical for an IPS panel.

Thanks to its 10-bit color, 100% sRGB coverage, along with a 98% DCI-P3 gamut, color vibrancy is superb, and color accuracy is excellent, making the XG270QG monitor great for professionals, creatives, photo editors, and color graders.

The ViewSonic Elite XG270QG does have FreeSync and is also G-Sync compatible as well. Once FreeSync is on, you’ll witness the fluidity and the smoothness, eliminating ghosting and screen tearing altogether.

However there is no VRR and if you use the HDMI port, the display will reach a 60Hz max refresh rate limit. With an input lag of 4ms, which is pretty decent for the XG270QG gaming monitor.

Overall the XG270QG is excellent in speed, performance and gives you perfect color reproduction, which is great if you’re in the creative space, and a bonus for competitive to casual gamers.

Pros

  • There was a bit of grey in very dark environments.

Thoughts and Conclusion

The ViewSonic Elite XG270QG is a superb, balanced monitor, thanks to its excellent color volume and a wide spectrum of colors.

In addition, the XG270QG has a 144Hz that can be overclocked to 165Hz, making this great for both competitive gamers and creatives alike.

However, the darks looked a bit grayed out, but doing a few tweaks here and there with the display settings should do the trick.
