Display Design

The Samsung Odyssey G3 measures at 27-inches, along with an excellent thin-bezel design, allowing you to have a better immersion experience during your gaming and multimedia sessions.

As you can see, the monitor has a nice matte-black finish to the overall frame, and the material feels high-quality thanks to its quality plastic material design.

You’ll be able to find the Samsung Odyssey logo on the rear, on top of the display, which adds to the aesthetics.

Also, the G3 is not curved in design and is the only non-curved monitor out of the Odyssey series. However, the screen immersion shouldn’t be an issue; you’ll still be able to get every ounce of screen time immersive experience.

In addition, the stand has an excellent, wide V-shaped base, and the G3 sits on a stable foundation, thanks to its base. However, you’ll need a bit of space around your table since the base will take up a decent amount of room.

The stand’s ergonomics are excellent because you’ll be able to adjust the monitor in height, switch, swivel and tilt. Unfortunately, the monitor won’t pivot; however, this shouldn’t be an issue.

Also, you can swap out the default stand with a 100x100mm VESA mount as well, if you’re not fully on board with the standard stand.

You’ll be able to find the OSD controls on the side rear of the display, which consists of five physical buttons, including the power on/off button. Using the buttons should be functional and is easy to use when navigating through the OSD configurations.

You can also find the connectivities on the rear of the display, consisting of one DisplayPort 1.2, one HDMI 2.0, one VGA, and one audio jack.

Overall the Samsung Odyssey G3 feels like a solid gaming monitor, and yet simply elegant at the same time. You’ll have the physical buttons to navigate through the OSD configurations with ease, and the ergonomics of the stand is top-notch, making it ideal if you’re a creative and a professional.

Performance and Features

The Samsung Odyssey G3 has a 1920×1080 resolution, with 144Hz, and a 1ms response time. And thanks to its 27-inch screen, you’ll have more than enough screen real-estate to have multiple windows and projects open simultaneously.

Along with a quick 144Hz refresh rate, this rate will give you the advantage when it boils down to competitive gaming.

In addition, the monitor has 2.1 MP along with an 82 PPI density, which is pretty decent when running on 1080p resolution.

The contrast level sits at 4000:1, along with a 250 cd/m² peak brightness level. And being a VA panel, the contrasts are vibrant, which lets you experience the rich darks when viewing dark sceneries and experiencing the brilliant lights.

The monitor also comes with FreeSync and is also G-Sync certified as well. Additionally, the VRR ranges from 20Hz to 144Hz, and enabling FreeSync will give you a better gaming experience overall. If you’re planning on using G-Sync, make sure to connect through the DisplayPort because FreeSync only works when connecting through HDMI.

In addition, the input lag sits around 5 ms, which is relatively low and is very responsive.

Also, the G3 comes with an overdrive feature that provides you an “Off” and “On” overdrive settings. If you decide to enable overdrive, you’ll experience a slight improvement in graphical movement and fewer motion blurs. There weren’t as many overshoots present.

Additionally, the G3 has 75% Adobe RGB and a 96% sRGB coverage overall; thus, you’ll experience great SDR colors and excellent photo editing, color grading, and creative designing.

The colors are vibrant and luminous, allowing you to cherish the colors in the vast color spectrum.

Unfortunately, the G3 doesn’t support HDR compared to its other Odyssey models. However, this shouldn’t be a significant issue since the screen provides you a wide range of color vibrancy and rich contrasts.

  • Fast 144Hz refresh rate.
  • FreeSync enabled, and G-Sync certified.
  • Excellent for gaming and overall general uses.
  • Great ergonomic design.

  • No HDR feature
  • A bit of graphical and blurs of motion.

Thoughts and Conclusion

Overall, the Samsung Odyssey G3 is an excellent gaming monitor, which will provide you the performance and quality pictures.

The stand has a great ergonomic design which lets you adjust the monitor into different places.

In addition, the contrasts and color vibrancy is excellent and will provide you deep and rich colors and contrasts for a more excellent immersion experience.

However, if you’re looking for an even higher quality gaming monitor, then you’ll need to check out the Samsung Odyssey G7, which is a step up from the G3 and will also give you that screen curvature experience.
