With the displays aesthetic build and design, you’ll be able to proudly walk into your room or office and admire the beauty of the device.

To begin with, MSI is a great company that produces state of the art tech and devices, and the Optix MAG271C is one of them.

The MAG271C is a 27-inch, 1800R curved VA panel, the behemoth of a display that will leave you feeling immersed into your gaming and multimedia moments.

So before investing in this monitor, let’s take a look at the specifications, design, performance, features, and if it’s the right fit for you.

The Design

To begin with, the design of the MSI Optix MAG271C is outstanding and is aesthetic. Thanks to its widescreen and a 1800R curvature built, you’ll be able to be immersed in your gaming and multimedia moments fully.

Furthermore, the screen frame has a beautiful matte-black finish to it and is made up of high graded material. And with a bezeless design, you’ll be fully absorbed in your digital experience without distractions as well.

Unfortunately, there are no RGB lightings in the panel itself if you do happen to be an RGB fanatic. But this shouldn’t be an issue at all and is just for aesthetic purposes.

Second, the stand will serve as a great foundation to the monitor, thanks to its tripod-shaped base; the monitor won’t wobble when accidentally nudged or moved.

However, the stand isn’t as ergonomic by design, because you’re limited to tilting and making the height adjustments to the screen.

But if you’re not satisfied with the stock stand, you can always replace it with a 100mmx100mm VESA mount. And you’ll also be able to mount the MAG271C onto your wall and do some console gaming while you’re at it.

Aside from the VESA mount, you’ll also be able to take breaks from gaming and hang your headphones onto the displays built-in smart headset hanger, which is fantastic and fancy at the same time. And this is very convenient if you’re taking quick rests.

Also, the I/O panels are easy to connect to, and they’re located in the rear of the panel. They consist of one DisplayPort 1.2, two HDMI 1.4, two USB 2.0, two USB 2.0 Type-B, and one Earphone-Output.

With the HDMI ports available, you’ll be able to plug in your PS4’s or X-Box One and do some console gaming as well. Plus, with the monitors’ excellent features and performance, you’ll be able to experience console gaming to a whole new level.

You can also invest in an HDMI switch and have multiple devices connected to the display.

Additionally, thanks to the displays two USB ports, you’ll be able to use the MAG271C as a charging station and charge your mobile or any electronic devices that have USB.

And the OSD buttons are located in the bottom of the panel, and you’ll be able to reconfigure your display with ease.

Also, the display comes with a remote which you can change your displays configuration/settings through that remote and even with your smartphones as well.

Performance and Features

With its 27-inch display and a resolution of 1920×1080, you’ll have more than enough screen real estate to have multiple windows and work on different projects at the same time. Along with a screen aspect ratio of 16:9, there will be a lot of room space for you can capitalize on.

And if you’re a competitive gamer, you’ll be gaining the upper advantage. Because thanks to its quick 144Hz refresh rate, and its 1ms response time, you’ll be able to game with speed and accuracy.

The response time and refresh rate will give you smoother gameplay without tracing, and nor motion blur involved.

Furthermore, the monitor provides you with accurate and true colors, thanks to its sRGB 115%, and DCI-P3 90% coverage, you’ll have color depth and accuracy to appreciate the beauty of your gaming environment. And the color coverage is great if you’re a producer or a graphic artist.

With the HDMI port, you’ll be able to plug in your PS4, SNES or X-Box One and have the 144Hz with the FreeSync feature available to you as well. I recommend gaming with the MAG271C monitor over a TV any time of the day due to the monitors’ features and fast performance.

Furthermore, most monitors have a flicker rate of 200 times per second, however, thanks to the displays anti-flickering feature, you’ll have a dramatic reduction of the number of flickers in the screen.

Also, you can control the OSD panel through just by using your mouse and keyboard as well.

The OSD menu is user-friendly, and you’ll be able to reconfigure your monitors’ setup quite easily. And you’ll be able to bind your keyboard buttons to any OSD preset and set your configurations through there.

Also, if you have an AMD graphics card, you’ll be able to use FreeSync and have smoother, buttery-like gameplay fully. Once enabled, you’ll eliminate screen-tearing and ghosting.

Unfortunately, the display doesn’t support G-Sync.

However, if you do have an Nvidia GPU, you can also use FreeSync as well, as long as you download the new drivers from Nvidia’s website, the Nvidia cards should be compatible.

Pros

  • Speedy 144Hz refresh rate and has a 1ms response time, great for higher gaming
  • The colors and contrast are awesome
  • No bleeding nor flickering
  • Affordable price for the performance it has
  • Very aesthetic monitor
  • No dead pixels

Cons

  • Only runs up to 1080p
  • Stand only adjusts in height and tilts. However, you can always replace the stand with a VESA mount down the road

In Conclusion

Overall, the MSI Optix MAG271C is an impressive gaming monitor to have. From its great aesthetically design structure, to its performance and its features it has, you’ll be proud of owning one of these monitors.

You can also check out more of the 144Hz refresh rate monitors on here, and some of the best 240Hz refresh rates monitors as well.

  1. Wow! Excellent review you have done for the MSI optix mag271c. Seriously, o love the physical presentation of this monitor especially with its curve edge. It would make it very immersive and awesome yo work on especially if using it for high quality works such as graphics. However, I need it for gaming since my last monitor got spoilt. This would definitely add a special effect to the enjoyability of my gaming experience. Awesome information I have gotten concerning this.

    1. Thanks for the feed RoDarrick, the MAG271C is an awesome VA panel if you’re a gamer due to its 144Hz refresh rate.

  2. Thanks for this complete rundown and review of the MSI Optix MAG271C monitor. The design alone is enough to convince me that it is worth having, it just looks great and would fit in beautifully with the rest of my setup in my office. I use my laptop for business and gaming, so I am always looking for upgrades that will be functional for business yet useful for the gaming side of my activities.

The feature of being able to store the headphones on the monitor is a great one, and likely I would buy the suggested alternative mount for the wall, as I have now with one of my monitors. For gaming, the fast refresh rate would be an upgrade from what I have now…

The last factor that convinces me that this is a suitable replacement for what I now have is the price. For the value, the MSI Optix MAG27 comes at a very reasonable price. Is there an alternative that you would recommend over this one that is similarly priced? I have not found one…

    1. Thanks, Dave. I couldn’t agree more, the MAG271C is priced reasonably and should suffice if you’re a gamer. However, if you’re in the market for a new monitor, and you’re a producer/content creator, then you’ll need an IPS panel which will give you better color and image quality overall.
