Also, the stand is ergonomic by design, which has a beautiful steel gray finish to it. The stand lets you tilt, swivel, pivot, and make the height adjustments.

With its unique design of the base and its U-shaped design, the monitor has a solid foundation and shouldn’t make any wobbly movements when adjusting or making slight movements to the monitor.

I/O Panel

Aside from the VESA mount, you’ll be able to locate the I/O ports in the back of the monitor. The ports consist of one DisplayPort 1.2, two HDMI 2.0 ports, and an audio jack for your speakers or headphones.

Furthermore, the Displayport 1.2 will let you connect to your PC. You can also invest in some of the best top rated HDMI switches, so you can add multiple devices into your monitor.

No Built-In Speakers

Also, there are no built-in internal speakers, but that shouldn’t be an issue because most built-in speakers won’t be as good as compared to having dedicated speakers such as Bose Home Speaker 500, a Harman Kardon Onyx Studio 4 or headphones such as some of the Best Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds

Along with having no built-in speakers, there is also no OSD panel on the monitor itself. So you’ll be able to take the controls and make the necessary configurations inside within the display. This is convenient as well because this is all done electronically.

And if you do have an AMD graphics card, you’ll be able to use the FreeSync on the 27UL500 monitor. Once FreeSync is on, you’ll be able to get super smooth, and liquid-like graphics as well. Thus eliminating screen tearing and ghosting altogether. This is great if you’re ever viewing high fast action scenes or high paced sports.

5ms Response Time

Furthermore, 27UL500 has a 5ms response time. If you’re gaming competitively, you won’t see any significant changes between from a 1ms to 5ms.

However, if you’re genuinely a competitive gamer, then the lower the response time, the better. So you’ll need some of the best 144Hz gaming monitors with a 1ms response time to get the upper advantage. And if you also want to go for higher refresh rates, then consider some of the top 240Hz refresh rates monitors as well.

Thoughts and Conclusion

With the 27UL500 being an IPS panel, you’ll have clear images and color depth.

However if you’re looking for an IPS panel with a 144Hz refresh rate then, you can check out Acer VG271 monitor.

But if you’re looking for a display for something in between an IPS or a TN panel, then you can check out Asus VG258QR monitor or the MSI Optix MAG271C monitor.

If you do own an Nvidia graphics card, you won’t be able to utilize its G-Sync features because the 27UL500 monitor isn’t G-Sync compatible.

And being a 60 Hz refresh rate monitor, you may get a bit of ghosting and lines if you’re viewing something fast-paced, but shouldn’t be an issue if you’re a casual gamer and user. If you’re a competitive gamer, then you’ll most likely need to invest in a higher refresh rate monitor, such as a 144Hz refresh rate display, with a 1ms response time.

But overall, the LG 27UL500 is an aesthetically pleasing and a high performing monitor, with image detail, clarity and color depth being the top priorities of an IPS panel. The LG 27UL500 is worth every penny.
