Display Design

The LG 27GN950 B measures at 27-inches with a nice aesthetically pleasing built to the overall design.

In addition, the display has a nice matte-black texture to the design and has thin bezels on all three sides, making the 27GN950 B great for immersion.

Along with thin bezels, you can connect two or even more 27GN950 B displays and have a ready battle-station for you to command.

And the entire screen is also made up of a matte material, which prevents any glares nor reflections, which is another plus.

The stand is well ergonomically designed, and the display sits on a solid foundation, thanks to its V-shaped base. The base may take up room but shouldn’t cause any room issues.

You can also see the nice LG gaming logo located on the back of the stand, which has a nice red color to the entire design.

And you can also adjust the brightness and settings of the RGB colors by adjusting a small wheel located in the bottom bezel of the display.

With an ergonomic stand, you can adjust the height of the display, tilt, and pivot.

You can also swap out the default stand with a 100x10mm VESA mount, allowing the 27GN950 B to be truly flexible.

You can find the connectivity at the monitor’s right rear, which consists of two HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.4, and two USB 3.0. With an abundance of connectivity, you can plug in any extra devices and make the 27GN950 B a charging station as well.

And if these ports aren’t enough, you can also get an HDMI switch if needed.

Located on the monitor’s bottom bezel, you’ll spot the OSD panel, which consists of a joystick that is very functional and should be user-friendly when navigating through the OSD settings.

You can also change the settings using the OSD in-display feature directly from your screen, which is also convenient. The settings also let you choose from different pre-sets and features specifically designed for certain games.

Performance and Features

The LG 27GN950 B has a 3840×2160 UHD resolution and runs 4K as well, with 10-bit colors. Along with a quick 144Hz refresh rate, you can overclock up to 160Hz if needed and a 1ms response time, which is superb for competitive and general gaming alike.

Having a 1ms response time, there was no blur trailing nor ghosting present, which is great if you’re gaming and watching media in fast-paced scenes.

Additionally, the display has a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a brightness level of 450 cd/m², which is quite normal for an IPS panel. HDR is superb, making colors pop and accurate.

Gaming with 4K is fantastic and will give you a more immersive experience. However, it’ll require power in certain games running 4K; you can always lower the resolution to hit higher FPS’s.

With a 178-degree range of view, you’ll be able to view the screen from different positions. And the display will remain to have consistency throughout colors and images quality.

The 27GN950 B does have a 100% sRGB and a 97% DCI-P3 coverage, making this monitor excellent for working with color grading projects, photo editing, and other creative projects, thanks to its high quality of color coverage and contrast coverage as well.

The pixel density for the 27GN950 B ranges around 160 PPI, which is superb; however, you may have to do a bit of calibration to get some smaller text readable.

Speaking of reading, the monitor has a blue-light filter and flicker-free as well, making it easy for your eyes, and you can use the 27GN950 B for prolonged uses.

FreeSync and G-Sync are available as well, with a VRR ranging from 48 to 144Hz. And can hit 160Hz if you plan on overclocking the display.

And once FreeSync is enabled, you’ll experience super smooth, buttery-like graphics and images, enhancing your gaming and multimedia experience.

There was a bit of IPS glow in dark environments; however, it shouldn’t be significantly noticeable, which is excellent.
