Design

The design of the monitor has a beautiful, elegant metallic look to the overall frame. And with a sturdy stand, the monitor serves as a solid foundation which will prevent the monitor from wobbling. Similar to the design of the Asus MX34VQ, you’ll get the same elegant look to the monitor.

In addition, the monitor is relatively thin, measuring around 1.25 cm, which adds to the elegant look, and is lightweight overall.

Thanks to being it a lightweight design, it’ll be easy to carry the MX27UC around to travel if you’re ever on the go.

The thin frames make the display more immersive, and you’ll be able to have a better experience when gaming or when you’re working on projects. With its frameless design, the monitor weighs less than the 22-inch AOC TV.

Also, the I/O panels are located in the back and are relatively easy to set up and have the monitor running. The panels consist of one HDMI 2.0, one DP 1.2a, one USB-C, two USB 3.1, and a 3.5mm Audio Input.

And in case if you have a MacBook Pro, you’ll be able to plug that to the monitor as well directly. Thanks to its USB-C port, you’ll be able to charge your MacBook while using the display simultaneously.

Furthermore, you’ll get 3840 x 2160 of resolution at the same time, which is awesome.

Also, the stand has a beautiful, elegant look to it as well. With its sundial based shape, the monitor has a solid foundation, and the base of the stand will prevent the monitor from wobbling and slightly moving.

Unfortunately, the stand isn’t ergonomic by design. However, you’ll be able to tilt the display, but you won’t be able to make the height adjustments, pivot, nor swivel.

If you need to charge your smartphones wirelessly, you can. Thanks to its Qi wireless charger, you’ll be able to charge your device with

And there are no options to add a VESA mount, but you can always use an adapter as an alternative.

Located in the rear of the panel are two 3-watt built-in speakers who are engineered and developed from ICEpower, and Bang & Olufsen, they sound great and get you immersed.

However, you’ll be better with a set of dedicated speakers or headphones if you do plan on taking sound to the next level.

Performance and Features

With a 27-inch display and a resolution of 3840 x 2160 4K UHD, you’ll get one immersive display with plenty of screen real estate to work with. And thanks to the monitors widescreen, you’ll be able to have multiple windows open and work on many projects at the same time. Also, the display can run 4K is ease.

When viewing the display, you’ll have no dead pixels at all. And thanks to its color depth, you’ll be able to immerse yourself to the digital moment fully.

The Asus MX27UC is an IPS panel with nice vibrant and in-depth colors that producers, artists and video editors alike can truly appreciate.

The vibrant colors to its full advantage to get detailed work done. And thanks to the displays’ brightness level of 300 cd/m², you’ll be able to see the full brightness of what the screen has to offer.

You’ll be able to view your projects with greater detail because you’ll get a sharper text.

If you’re a gamer, the 100Hz of refresh rate is fantastic to have because you’ll be able to get fluid-like graphics during fast-paced scenes. But if you’re a competitive gamer, you’ll need to get a TN panel with 144Hz of refresh rate to gain the slight edge.

However, this monitor has a 5ms response time and is acceptable if you’re a casual gamer. If you’re a competitive gamer, then you may see a difference between a 5ms to a 1ms response time.

But overall with a 100Hz refresh rate and a 5ms response time, you may see a bit of screen tearing and ghosting but not a lot.

With the MX27UC being FreeSync and G-SYNC compatible, you’ll be able to have fluid-like and smooth gameplay, especially during fast-action scenes. Once the sync is enabled, you’ll experience gaming to a whole different level.

You’ll also be able to choose in-game options as well, such as FPS counter, crosshairs, and much more.

The Pros

  • The Asus MX27UC is very vibrant in colors, brightness, and has proper contrast levels.
  • It’s pretty fast for an IPS display; you’ll get 100hz of refresh rate and a 5ms response time.

The Cons

  • No VA mount
  • The OSD buttons can be designed just a little bit better.

In Conclusion

The Asus MX27UC is an outstanding display to have within your arsenal. This display is especially great if you’re a producer, graphic artist, and video editor due to its wide range of color and image vibrancy.

Overall the design looks elegantly pleasing, with the performance to back it up.

If you’re looking for image quality with color depth and speed at the same time, then the Asus Designo MX27UC is it in my opinion.
