If you’re looking for a well-rounded monitor, then the Asus BE279QSK would be your choice.
Even though the specs aren’t inclined to gaming and don’t have that 144Hz refresh rate, the BE279QSK monitor caters to the professionals, even the creatives, thanks to its color accuracy.
If you need business conferencing, then the BE279QSK even has a camera that comes with it, located on top of the display, which includes a built-in mic as well.
If you’re looking for a daily monitor and are not too heavy on the gaming side, then the Asus BE279QSK would be your best bet. So before jumping on board with the BE279QSK, let’s check out its specifications, display design, performances, and features.

Display Design
The Asus BE279QSK provides you with an excellent elegant design, thanks to its aesthetically pleasing matte-black texture.
Additionally, the display has a very thin bezel design, which gives you more of that immersive feel. And with slim bezels, you’ll be able to connect a second BE279QSK monitor and have a dual-screen setup.
The 27-inch setup allows more screen real estate, giving you more legroom for extra windows and extra applications running simultaneously.
The BE279QSK has five physical buttons located on the bottom left of the display, which controls the OSD configurations when you need to. However, the display would have been better if it had provided a joystick for navigational purposes.
You’ll find the connectivity of inputs and outputs located on the rear of the display, which consists of one DisplayPort 1.2, one HDMI 1.4, one VGA, one USB Upstream, and one audio jack. Unfortunately, there aren’t any USB ports present, which isn’t a significant issue.
As you can see, you’ll find the 2MP external camera attached with the Asus BE279QSK monitor, and it also has a built-in microphone to allow easy dialogue, which is clear. The camera is great if you need to run a business conference or chat with friends on Skype or Facebook messenger.
Also, the BE279QSK does come with two 2-watt internal speakers, which sound pretty decent; however, you’ll be far better off with a set of dedicated speakers or a pair of headphones.
The camera won’t require any connectivity since all connectivity to the cam and the monitor is all internal.
In addition, the BE279QSK is ergonomically designed well; the stand allows you to adjust the monitor in height, pivot, and tilt. However won’t let you swivel, which isn’t a significant issue at all.
The BE279QSK sits on a stable foundation and grants the display no wobbles nor movement in case you slightly nudge the display.
If you’re not entirely with the stock stand, you can always replace the stand with a 100x100mm VESA mount, which allows the BE279QSK more flexibility in terms of the range of motion and screen positioning.
Performance and Features
To begin with, the Asus BE279QSK measures at 27-inches with a 1920×1080 resolution Full HD, along with a decent 60Hz refresh rate and a fast 5ms response time. And you’ll have the traditional 16:9 screen aspect ratio as well.
The specs aren’t too great for competitive gaming; you’ll need a 144Hz refresh rate gaming monitor or above instead.
You’ll be able to plug in any console gaming system, be it PS4 or the Xbox One, that you may have via HDMI, so you’ll be able to scale the resolution up with ease as well.
The contrast ratio sits at 1000:1, along with a 250 cd/m² brightness level. These are decent specs for an IPS display.
Being an IPS panel, the BE279QSK provides you with 178 degrees of viewing, which is great if you’re viewing the display from different angles and sides.
Thanks to its 81 PPI (pixel per inch), the text and images are pretty sharp and crisp, giving you more screen clarity.
Unfortunately, the Asus BE279QSK doesn’t come with FreeSync nor G-Sync compatibility, so you won’t be able to witness the extra options that adaptive sync provides.
The BE279QSK does provide excellent eye care, thanks to its Asus Eye care feature, which reduces the blue-light and flicker within the screen, allowing you to use the BE279QSK for prolonged uses.
Overall the Asus BE279QSK performs excellent, with no dead pixels but a bit of backlight bleeding around the edges, nothing too noticeable, and are your typical IPS glow.
The BE279QSK only has a 60Hz refresh rate, so it won’t be ideal for competitive gaming, and the response time sits at 5ms; you’ll need a quicker 1ms response time for fast gaming.
Pros
- Great viewing angles
- Spacious and great screen real estate
- Aesthetically pleasing
- Ergonomically built well
- Thin bezels
Cons
- No FreeSync nor G-Sync
- Not made for serious gaming
Thoughts and Conclusion
The Asus BE279QSK is excellent if you seek to use the monitor for your daily tasks and nothing too intensive.
Also, the BE279QSK comes with a 2MP camera and an internal mic for ease with speaking.
If you’re looking for a super cheap monitor and are on a budget and don’t play any PC gaming, then the Asus BE279QSK would be your best choice.
