Display Design

The Acer V277U measures at 27-inches, and the entire design is aesthetically pleasing to look at.

The entire display is made up of high-quality plastic material, with a matte-black color in the mixture.

The frame bezel designs are thin and small, which makes it great for immersion and adds to the positive experience as well. Looking at the monitor from afar, it almost looks like there are no bezels.

And having really thin bezels, you’ll have the option of having a second Acer V277U display and have dual monitors at your command. Or you can even add a third monitor and have a battle-station ready for you to go.

The stand has a square-based shape and serves an excellent foundation for the entire display. However, the stand isn’t ergonomic by design, so you won’t be able to adjust its height, pivot, swivel, nor rotate the monitor. But the stand gives you the option to tilt the monitor.

However, you can always opt-in for a VESA mount (100x100mm) if you’re not satisfied with the default stand that it comes with. Connecting the VESA mount to the Acer V277U is fairly simple and will give you more options in terms of flexibility and monitor positioning.

The connectivity sits in the middle rear of the panel. However, you may have to turn the monitor upside down for you to connect the ports to its location conveniently. The connectivity panel consists of one DisplayPort, two HDMI, and one audio line-out output.

The monitor does come with built-in speakers, which sound pretty decent. However, you’ll be way better off with a set of dedicated speakers or awesome headphones.

The OSD panel can be located in the corner rear of the monitor and consists of buttons. They are reasonably easy to control, and the buttons feel responsive at the same time.

Overall the look and the entire design of the Acer V277U are indeed a beauty, and the matte-black texture does add to the aesthetics to the structure. Acer indeed produced a state of the art monitor.

Performance and Features

The Acer V277U runs at a resolution of 2560 x 1440 WQHD, with a refresh rate of 75Hz and a 4ms (GtG) response time. The refresh rate is decently fast and will give you the right performance.

The Acer V277U is an IPS panel, which gives you accurate color and robust contrast levels, which make it great if you’re a producer, photographer, and a graphic designer.

And being an IPS panel, images won’t disappear, and colors won’t fade when viewing the Acer V277U from any angles. So image and color will stay one hundred percent accurate when the monitor is viewed from different angles.

The Acer V277U is also great for casual gaming as well, but if you’re a serious gamers, you may want to check out the faster 144Hz monitors.

The color accuracy gives this display the advantage as well. With a contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a max brightness of 350 cd/m², which provides you and if you’re also a producer, the necessary levels of brightness power.

However, you may have to calibrate the brightness level a bit down once you open the Acer V277U out of the box.

Brightness uniformity may be a tad bit off due to one side being a bit bright, but nothing too significantly noticeable and should be easy to calibrate.

Overall the Acer V277U has no presence dead pixels and no noticeable backlight bleeding. However, there was just a little bit of backlight bleeding in some regions of the monitor, but nothing major or anything significantly noticeable.

Pros

  • Images and colors are crisp and accurate
  • Bright levels are powerful. May have to calibrate down a bit when first opening
  • Fast refresh rate and quick response time

Cons

  • The stand isn’t ergonomic by design. But you can always opt-in for a VESA mount.
  • A bit of backlight bleeding but nothing too significant or noticeable.

Conclusion

The Acer V277U monitor is a real state of the art IPS panel and this is great if you’re a creative or a producer.

If you’re a casual gamer, then you can still get away with the Acer V277U. But if you’re a serious competitive gamer, then you’ll need to check out the 144Hz monitors or even some of the faster 240Hz displays.

For around 240 to 220 bucks, the Acer V277U monitor will give you both the performance and affordability in price. With the performance, image quality, and color accuracy combined, the Acer V277U is a bang for the buck.
