Display Design

The design of the Acer Predator X38 is unique, and it’s sure to turn heads when your guest sees it. Thanks to its excellent matte-black design, the monitor has a futuristic feel to the overall body. There is no RGB lighting, though.

In addition, the build quality of the Predator X38 is excellent, and it feels like a premium product.

Also, the large, massive monitor, 2300R curved display, is eye-catching, and the stand it comes with is very sturdy and looks great. Along with its excellent V-shaped base, the monitor won’t wobble if you nudge the display.

It has a huge stand that takes up a lot of desk space, but it’s solid and stable. The monitor itself is very thick and heavy. The stand also doesn’t have any RGB lighting as well. You can also see the awesome Predator logo too.

You’ll be able to make the height adjustment to the monitor, tilt, swivel, and rotate. However, you won’t be able to pivot the monitor.

You can always opt-in for a 100x100mm VESA mount if you need more monitor maneuverability.

The Predator X38’s display is gorgeous, and it’s one of the best gaming monitors on the market.

Also, the X38 does have a fan located in the back of the monitor, and you’ll usually hear it within ten to fifteen minutes of display use.

The large screen size and curved design make for an immersive gaming experience, and the 144 Hz refresh rate ensures that games look smooth and fluid.

You’ll be able to find the OSD panel located on the back of the monitor, which consists of one OSD joystick and four physical buttons, including the power button. This makes it easy to access and adjust the settings without reaching around to the front of the monitor.

In addition, the monitor has two 7-watt speakers, which sound decently great; however, you’re always almost better off with a set of dedicated speakers or a pair of fabulous headphones.

Using the joystick is convenient when navigating through the OSD configurations, gaming menu, and the buttons act like a hotkey as well.

The connectivity consists of one DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.0, five USB 3.0, four USB 3.2, and one audio jack. There will be a plethora of connectivity that you can choose from, and you’ll be able to plug in the additional gaming consoles you may have lying around your place. The design makes the monitor give you easy access to the connections.

With a plethora of USB ports, you can plug n any additional electronic devices you may have.

Overall the Acer Predator X38 looks outstanding, and the aesthetics are on point. The monitor is an actual work of art.

Performance and Features

Acer’s Predator X38 is one of Acer monitor company’s flagship gaming monitors, and for a good reason.

The Acer Predator X38 is a high-end IPS panel monitor that offers an immersive and responsive gaming experience. It features a 37.5-inch curved IPS display with a resolution of 3840 x 1600 and HDR support, providing you with excellent gaming performance.

The display has a maximum refresh rate of 175 Hz and a response time of 4 ms. It also has G-Sync support to ensure smooth gameplay. The X38 is fantastic for serious gaming, and there’s no ghosting present making the display great for fast-paced action scenes, thanks to its response times.

Although being a 144Hz native gaming monitor, you’ll be able to overclock the X38 through the on screen display menu.

In addition, the monitor has a 1000:1 contrast ratio and a 450 cd/m2 brightness level. You may have to turn the brightness down and calibrate these settings to normal levels. The monitor offers excellent image quality with accurate colors and deep blacks.

With a low Delta E<2, the display will provide you with more life-like colors, great for immersion. The DCI-P3 is also on point, which will give you precise color accuracy.

Being an IPS, the monitor is great for video editing, professional use and for photography projects as well.

Backlight bleeding isn’t an issue; there’s a bit of the bleeding around the display, but it isn’t too noticeable.

On top of that, it has G-Sync HDR support, but it isn’t AMD FreeSync certified; but can still be used; however, you may experience a few compatibility issues.

Turning on G-Sync will provide better and smoother gameplays without any screen tearing. However, being a 175Hz gaming monitor, you probably won’t need to turn on G-Sync as much.

There is an over-drive feature; however, it’s not recommended that you turn on the feature to its highest due to overshoots and graphical artifacts being present. Just set it to medium to normal settings.

Pros

  • Excellent 175Hc refresh rate
  • Color accuracy is on point and life-like
  • Aesthetically pleasing
  • Ergonomically well designed
  • Lots of USB ports and connectivity

Cons

  • Contrasts can be improved
  • Pricey

Thoughts and Conclusion

The Acer Predator X38 is a great gaming monitor that offers excellent picture quality, wide viewing angles, and a fast response time.

It also has excellent features like FreeSync and G-Sync compatibility, making it excellent for gamers.

However, its high price tag means that it isn’t the best value for money.

If you’re looking for the best gaming monitor possible, the Predator X38 should be at the top of your list.

However, if you’re on a budget, other gaming monitors offer similar performance for less money.
